want shell should I learn 8
I dn't feel obliged to use stuff I don't feel a need for! It could play the flute for all I care ... or execute a program script. The point is that it should do what an interactive shell does well - help you run your commands.
% forecah d You must have deliberately stupificated your tcsh.
You mean I don't just get the last command beginning with "a" by typing a-uparrow? WHY NOT? Have these people no idea of a user interface? (screams)
You're being silly - tcsh runs tcsh scripts fine when they're cut and pasted into the tcsh command prompt. As to "no one", you'll find all solaris scripts are written in csh (though I never understood HOW).
Oh? But it wasn't a csh script now I look, so you ARE being silly!
want shell should I learn 9 On 2006-01-05, Peter T. Breuer If you limit yourself to simple commands, then yes, tcsh... Because we are talking about tcsh. Tcsh reads tcsh scripts, capice?
On the contrary, I'm showing the kind of advanced thinking that tells you about usability and ergonomics. That doesn't make sense - all men are animals, and using a zoologist those animals can be much more intensely studied than my a medical doctor. No? Puhleeeeese stop this nonsensical fixation with programming. It's absolutely AWFUL at interpreting my C code, which I write in. Please FIX that. Peter
