True that many technical documents are in more universal .pdf format. But have you tried loading OO presentations on a Windows box for a presentation before? Very embarrbutting.

The obvious solution is to have your own Linux laptop to bring to a presentation; unfortunately not all of us have the money to afford one.

Wrong. I am not a whiner. In fact I didn't even mention Linux vs. Windows until you did. Check the history of my posts on this NG and you will see I do make an effort to fix the problem instead of just whining. In fact my post wasn't even a whine, it was just pointing out that other newsreaders don't support IP masking well.

Newsflash is that most people have an IQ of 100 (and lower), and an attention span that is tuned by tabloids and TV shows to be short.

Windows caters to this "convenience" market segment, which is clearly the majority. Linux caters to the market that want a flexible O-S where just about anything can be achieved IF you know how to do it and IF you take the time to learn it.

FWIW, Linux has the potential to be a lot more anonymous than Windows because it doesn't have serial number-activation rubbish that of course is quite traceable to the person. Which is why I'm still waiting for a suggestion of a good cross-O-S NG reader that handles IP masking via Tor well...
