why do some ppl hate google groups 2105Read about netiquette and use your brain. It's replying *above* the text you quote. why do some ppl hate google groups 2106 Usenet newsgroups have been around since 1979, so it's a long existing culture. Dejanews only started archiving in 1996, and google only took over the archive a few years back... - Because it's against the natural way of reading the text. - Why? - Top posting is bad. Look at tin: You can easily see who's answering to which message, every new message will appear in this thread and will be marked by "o" sign. You can bookmark thread by pressing " and it will be marked by ":" sign on the left on thread name. And it's beautiful and colourful :-). If it's too hard for you to configure tin, take a look at mozilla thunderbird, I've heard that it's very easy yet powerful.
I've never heard about grabit, but I can tell you something more general. Download and configuration are made only once. Also when you downloading articles, first you download a large amount of articles and newsgroups, but later it will took only a few seconds, because only new newsgroups and articles will be fetched. That's way usenet crushes the google when working on dial-up - connect, fetch new articles, post yours, disconnect, read everything offline without hurry. In case of google there's a lot of useless clicking to get all articles you want to read. PS. Sorry for my terrible english :-). -- Z pozdrowieniami, Krzysztof Mitko Hi! I'm a signature virus.
