Hi Grant IE1394 DV capture problem in kino 1551 Now it works. I believe this Conceptronic PCI Card isn't very reliable. I probe to changes the port where the cable were attach. IE1394 DV capture problem in kino 1550 On Mon, 12 Jun 2006 14:23:20 GMT, egm staggered into the Black Sun and said: Please don't top-post. Message rearranged for easier reading: eth1394? Interesting; I've never seen... as you just wrote "old" command line applications. This is OLD. They are very little programs-shareware-freeware nowaydays that you will create & furthermore sale if they are command line applications (in particular if it's for Windows or Mac). I do agree that 90% of the code that you migth write for an app has nothing to do with GUI but almost all application for personal computers nowaydays need an user interface.
This is precisely my point. It would be nice to make the task easier. I know there is tcl-tk Qt and all that... but i must say that i come from a graphics-design background and can't say that they are really good looking gui (i know you can customise the look). I spend a reasonable amount of time learning a langage like C++ and try to minimise the amount of time I need to learn additional libraries (like Qt). I am not saying I am right to do so, I am just saying I must be quite typical of the average programmer who is not a professional programmer and would like despite that to write apps for his-her particular needs (or the needs of others) that are 1-doing a particular task 2look good 3and are portable (yes dreamland for programmers I guess). I know, I worked on SGI workstations, even on Next Cube in the beginning of the 90s ;-) and certainly realise that a lot of programming-time was dedicated to the subject. I am certainly very very happy to help and I believe that sending a post to the forum is already a start as I can read reactions and ideas from other people. Thanks, Mark -
