Ah, a configure program just like me... it forgets everything that isn't written down... ;-)

On Friday 03 June 2005 21:15, occupant To the OP: Take a look a SimplyMepis (www.simplymepis.com). It is Debian based and is designed for...

Yer kidding.

Is that what you actually want?

What Linux distro for a P3 computer 3528
P Collins I run Red Hat Linux 9 on a dual 550MHz Pentium III machine with 512 Megabytes RAM...

...

I'm not sure what that means. I'm using a Slackware distribution, with a 2.6.10 kernel, but my XEmacs is 21.4.15. Whatever, I went and looked in the config.log from when I compiled XEmacs, and it doesn't have that.

Hmmmm... wonder what causes that!

... ...

You don't have the X11 headers installed. Is it that you really don't have X on this box, or just don't have a full installation?

...

No termcap library!

Hmmm... do you have ncurses installed?

...

I'm not sure offhand what libdld is...

It appears you may not have a complete Linux installation? Or you may just intentionally be using a very bare system. I'd recommend that you look at the output from ".-configure --help" and determine which flags you want to use. What I do (for anything that requires special options) is use a shell script to run it. That way at a later date I can remember just exactly what options were used.

Here is the command line for configure that I used,

.-configure --compiler=gcc --cflags="-g -O" --dynamic --with-athena=3d --with-dialogs=athena
